Operation branded
Operation Branded -Mustang is an 8 week program in which veterans, active duty military and first responders are paired with a wild mustang to gentle them. This program often helps to create mutual healing, often aiding in the reduction of PTSD symptoms and improving quality of life while giving the mustang a fresh start to a new life. The participant has the option to adopt the gentled mustang after the program if he/she is an approved adopter with adequate facilities, but this is not a requirement of the program. This opportunity is provided at no cost to the participant thanks to sponsorships and donors.
I was really nervous going into this program, but I'm so glad I did it. It's still helping build my self-confidence, among other things.
These lessons were endless through the frustration of not being able to touch my mustang's nose to riding her by the end of the program!
It taught me how to be present, and patient, and not afraid.
All the mentors stayed calm and present during risky times, which helped me a lot. They were so supportive and encouraging it make me cry.
Even after my session ended, they are still there for me, and they've become like family.
